The Director of Development of Texas Ballet Theater is charged with planning, initiating and managing the generation of all aspects of contributed revenue including, but not limited to, the funding of artistic initiatives, annual operational funding, special projects, planned giving, and capital and endowment campaigns. The Director of Development is responsible for supporting and facilitating the success of Texas Ballet Theater’s volunteer leadership in planning and executing fund-raising activities and benefit events to achieve Texas Ballet Theater’s goals, which include, but are not limited to:

Short-Term Annual Goals:
Raise enough money annually through contributions and benefit events to more than offset the difference between the Ballet’s expenses and earned revenue;
Facilitate the achievement of 100% participation by all members of the Board of Directors as donors, subscribers and attendees.

Medium-Term Goals:
Help fund the establishment of a cash-reserve fund roughly equal to one tenth of the Ballet’s annual budget (for the 2006-07 season, this amount would be $600,000);
Obtain sponsorships and underwriting for special endeavors such as new productions, touring and other initiatives;

Long-Term Goals:
Grow a permanent endowment fund to roughly three times the Ballet’s annual budget;
Implement a planned-giving program.

The Director of Development is responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with the individuals, businesses, foundations and government entities that provide financial support for Texas Ballet Theater in the form of gifts and grants.

Areas of responsibility include:
Working directly with Ballet board members, and members of the Ballet’s artistic and administrative staff
Developing and managing the professional administrative staff necessary to successfully support all development efforts, including the timely submission of proposals which exceed minimum expectation of granting entities
Developing and overseeing the management of gift processing, record keeping, files, pledge reminders and acknowledgements
Reporting on and evaluating the progress of all development programs and activities
Working with existing donors to keep them informed and involved
Identifying potential new individual donors and working with corporations and foundations to raise awareness and funds

Qualifications:
The Director of Development should be a zealous and dedicated believer in the joy-giving transformational power and the value to society of art, especially the performing arts and particularly ballet.
Ideal candidates should have several years of professional fundraising experience, planning and executing successful development programs and benefit events, preferably in the performing arts arena. Experience in developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors and co-workers is essential.
Ideal candidates should demonstrate excellence in verbal and written communication and presentation skills, and must be able to work as a leader as well as part of a team.

The Director of Development is a member of Texas Ballet Theater’s senior management team and reports directly to the Managing Director.

Texas Ballet Theater is accepting applications for the position of Director of Marketing

The Marketing Director is an action-oriented position responsible for all aspects of Texas Ballet Theater’s (TBT) marketing program and for the earned income of TBT.

In charge of the marketing program, the Marketing Director develops an efficient and effective communications programs intended to increase revenue and enhance TBT’s brand image and reputation locally, regionally, and nationally.

The Marketing Director is also responsible for income generation through individual, group, and subscription ticket sales as well as revenue generated through ancillary opportunities such as corporate hospitality and by providing value-adding services to major donors (in conjunction with the Development function of TBT).

Texas Ballet Theater is accepting applications for the position of Development Assistant

The premier ballet company of North Texas is seeking a full-time, entry-level professional to support the development team with fund raising activities. 

Key responsibilities;

* Maintain donor database and special-event mailing lists
* Generate donor thank you letters
* Create, edit and merge word processing documents using MS Word
* Create and edit financial reports using MS Excel
* Prepare and package collateral proposal materials
* Assist with grant evaluation reporting
* Coordinate and assist with all development mailings
* Assist in planning, organizing and operating special events
* Process and confirm benefit-event reservations
* Update attendance lists and seating charts for events
* Communicate details with event vendors
* Research and investigate information to aid decision making
* Manage development calendar

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of two years’ office experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Tessitura; working knowledge of Publisher and
donor database software a plus
* Excellent writing, grammar and proofreading skills
* Detail-oriented and efficient
* Strong organization and communication skills
* Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events and performances

 

Interviewees will be tested on word processing and spreadsheet proficiency.

Compensation:  Salary (may be negotiable with advanced experience) plus benefits including health insurance, optional dental insurance, long and short term disability, 403(b) retirement plan, paid vacation.
